We are overjoyed, yet a little overwhelmed about our impending bundle of joy. I love my emails that compare the size of the babe to produce. Seriously though...how could a poppy seed make me feel so crappy?! Throughout this whole experience, I am reminded how incredible the human body is. I just have to listen to it...my body knows what to do and when. And holy cow, what a
whole body experience! Gas and hair and mood swings...oh my! It is truly amazing. It is also truly amazing how survivalist this fetus is. It sucks all the good things from me and leaves me with the garbage. Thanks, kid!
So, the first trimester was thankfully while I was still on summer vacation. I genuinely feel for women who have to work and deal with whatever their growing human in utero throws their way. I had a rough month(ish) with nausea, fatigue and general yuckiness - usually in the evenings. The timing worked out and week 13 was the tipping point, which was also the first week I had to deal with my 8th grade monsters. Here are some things that helped me cope with my first trimester dreariness (for future first trimester me as well as for other women yearning for relief).

| natural peppermint oil |
| Ginger ale mixed with juice |
I like this hot, cut with water, and honey added.
I've only found this in Whole Foods, but it is available online. |
| The generic Target brand actually tastes better. |
| Small, frequent snacks - usually carbs |
| lemon water |
| Ahhh relief - I swear by my heating pad! |
