An Ode to St. Valentine

Like I said in last year's Valentine's Day post, I'm not a huge proponent of the holiday.  I think there is too much pressure and too much time spent to do something that, in a perfect world, should be done regularly (ie: show your love(s) your love).  Well, on the hunt for this year's creative, inexpensive DIY Valentine project, I came across this idea.  So perfect!!

Normal rice krispie treats were too easy.  I used my favorite celebrity chef's recipe and Pioneer Woman did not disappoint!  Off to the grocery store I went.  I made some adjustments to Ree's recipe and used 2 cups cocoa krispies cereal and 4 cups original rice krispies cereal.  I then added chopped Reese's Peanut Butter Cups to one batch and Trader Joe's Speculoos Cookie Butter to the second.  Then, I stuffed different sized funnels with the mixture, let cool on a cookie sheet, wrapped in plastic wrap (the treat will last longer this way), tucked a love note* underneath and finally, wrapped the kiss in a layer of aluminum foil and voila!  A giant Hershey Kiss rice krispie treat for your love(s)!

*For my version of the love note, I typed personal messages in Courier font (medium blue ink) and printed them on white paper, landscape orientation.  The notes were simple Valentine's Day greetings and took the place of cards.  If I didn't see you last week and you usually get a Valentine in the mail from me...sorry...the kisses wouldn't ship well :/

The best part of this project?  It cost about $10 total, was super tasty, and only took about an hour to complete!

This would be an adorable way to show people of all ages some love on all holidays (or just a random Wednesday)!

Brooks' extra special, extra large treat.  He got a long note...it's private :)
