Charleston Babymoon

One of the biggest apprehensions we have about the arrival of our little man is how he will impact our wanderlusting.  We hope and pray that he enjoys exploring the world as much as his mom and dad...if he doesn't, it's going to be a tough life...sorry kid.  We know travels with a tyke will be an adjustment, but it is one we are excited to make and we are ready with all the appropriate gear to help make his baby comforts more portable!

Now...on to the point of this post.  What does a two week Winter Vacation for Becca + 11 weeks until Baby I is due + lots of credit card points = ?  A babymoon!  We were lucky enough to escape to Charleston, South Carolina (ironically, my birth place) for a few days of adventure in early January.  We enjoyed incredible food, quaint accommodations, historical sites, learning about the area from entertaining locals, and simply strolling the streets, soaking in the atmosphere.

AND THE FOOD!  Our two favorite meal stops were Jestine's Kitchen and Hyman's Seafood.  Jestine's serves Icebox Pickles when you're seated.  I don't even like cukes...I dream about these.  Brooks was tasting Hyman's scallops for days...we ate there for dinner one night, and then we had to return for an encore lunch before our flight home.  One more thing to say about the cuisine...holy pralines.  YUM.

A quick shout out to Liz, Say Charleston!'s sightseeing guide and professional photographer, for a wonderful walking tour of Charleston.  While meandering the popular sights of the city and learning its fascinating history, Liz captured the spirit of our vacation on camera!

We also really enjoyed the Barksdale House Inn.  Its location was terrific.  We loved that we could explore the city for a few hours, easily wander back to the inn for a respite, and then scoot out for more adventure, refreshed and rejuvenated.

Cheers to our Babymoon!
Thank you, Liz, for such beautiful photos!
